Good pruning makes a tree safer, healthier and better looking for decades. Bad pruning, like topping or lion-tailing, does the opposite. Crews in our network follow ANSI A300 pruning standards.

Tree Trimming & Pruning FAQ
How often should trees be trimmed?
Mature shade trees every 3 to 5 years; young trees every 2 to 3 years while their structure forms.
Is topping a tree ever a good idea?
No. Topping causes weak regrowth and decay. A qualified crew reduces the crown with proper cuts instead.
Is it OK to trim trees in summer?
Light pruning and deadwood removal are fine in summer; heavy structural pruning is best in dormancy. Avoid oaks April-July.
How much should you cut off a tree at once?
Arborists generally remove no more than 25% of a mature tree's live canopy in one season.
